President Trump’s 2025 Travel Ban: What You Need to Know and How PPID Can Help

On June 4, 2025, President Donald J. Trump issued a sweeping Presidential Proclamation that reinstates and expands travel restrictions on foreign nationals seeking entry into the United States. The order, which takes effect on June 9, 2025, cites national security and public safety threats as justification. For many individuals and families, this action could mean immediate disruption to visa applications, travel plans, and immigration status.

At Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, we’re here to help you understand how this new proclamation may affect you—and what steps you can take to protect your rights.

Full Travel Ban: These Countries Are Completely Barred

Nationals from the following 12 countries are fully banned from entering the U.S. under both immigrant and nonimmigrant visa categories:

  • Afghanistan
  • Burma (Myanmar)
  • Chad
  • Republic of the Congo
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Eritrea
  • Haiti
  • Iran
  • Libya
  • Somalia
  • Sudan
  • Yemen

Partial Entry Restrictions: Increased Scrutiny and Visa Limits

The following seven countries face partial restrictions, meaning certain visa types may be denied or delayed:

  • Burundi
  • Cuba
  • Laos
  • Sierra Leone
  • Togo
  • Turkmenistan
  • Venezuela

Who Should Be Concerned?

If you or your family are nationals of any of the listed countries, this new proclamation could:

  • Delay or deny visa applications or renewals
  • Disrupt travel plans or re-entry into the U.S.
  • Complicate employment-based or family-based immigration cases
  • Affect eligibility for green cards or asylum

Whether you’re inside the U.S. on a visa, waiting abroad for approval, or helping a loved one immigrate, it’s essential to act quickly to understand your legal options.
