New USCIS Alien Registration Requirement (2025 Update)

Effective April 11, 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has implemented a new alien registration requirement under Executive Order 14159. Certain non-U.S. citizens must now register using Form G-325R, Biographic Information (Registration). Failure to comply may result in fines, imprisonment, or deportation.

Who Must Register?

Under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), the following individuals must register:

  • Non-U.S. citizens aged 14 or older who were not registered and fingerprinted during visa application and who remain in the U.S. for 30 days or longer.
  • Individuals who entered the U.S. without inspection or parole.
  • Canadian visitors who entered by land and did not receive a Form I-94 or equivalent documentation.
  • Applicants for immigration benefits like Deferred Action or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) who lack official registration evidence.
  • Parents or guardians must register children under 14 who meet the above criteria.

How to Register

Follow these steps to complete your registration:

  • Create a USCIS Online Account at my USCIS.
  • Complete and submit Form G-325R online, providing all required biographic information.
  • Attend a biometrics appointment if scheduled.
  • Carry your Proof of Alien Registration at all times if you are 18 or older.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Non-compliance with the registration requirement can result in:

  • Fines of up to $5,000.
  • Imprisonment for up to six months.
  • Possible deportation proceedings.
