PPID’s distinguished team of litigators has more than 35 years of expertise and has earned an unmatched reputation for success.
We provide guidance to clients who are unable to reach a settlement through negotiation, and we assist them in navigating the appeals process when facing an unfavorable decision.
We’re experienced appellate litigators trying a wide range of cases, including those related to immigration, personal injury, labor law, medical malpractice and probate.
When a case in one of our practice areas cannot be settled through negotiation, our aggressive litigation team steps up and prepares the case for trial. At Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, our New York litigators are experienced in trying a wide range of cases, including those related to immigration, personal injury, labor law, medical malpractice and probate.
Partner Brian J. Isaac manages the firm’s litigation practice. He has been voted one of New York’s Super Lawyers® six years in a row. Mr. Isaac’s cases are often spotlighted in New York Law Journal and other law publications.
Mr. Isaac is widely recognized as one of the top appellate attorneys in the state. Much of the appellate work handled by PPID comes through referrals from other lawyers who know that our appellate attorneys have the experience and acumen to write persuasive appellate briefs and to make winning arguments before the appeals courts.
When you retain the hard-charging litigators at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, you benefit from our:
Reputation — Our litigation attorneys are widely respected in New York City, and much of our business comes from recommendations by former clients. Our reputation follows us wherever we go, including the courtroom.
Knowledge — Our litigation attorneys have extensive knowledge of how to best prepare a case for trial and how to present the evidence and arguments most persuasively to the judge and jury.
Experience — We have decades of experience litigating in the courts of New York.
After a judge or jury decides against you in a civil case, you need the New York appellate law attorneys at PPID to manage your second — and perhaps last — shot at a favorable judgment. Our lawyers have decades of experience in appellate law. They know how to write cogent appellate briefs and make persuasive oral arguments in the appeals courts of New York.
A higher court can overrule the decision of a lower court, but to get to the higher court you must clear several hurdles, including:
Grounds — To file an appeal, you must demonstrate that there’s a good reason the lower court’s decision should be reversed. The most common ground for an appeal is that the trial judge made significant errors that harmed your case.
Time to file — In New York, you have only 30 days to file your appeal from the day you receive the lower court’s decision.
Notice — You are required to notify the court and the opposing party of your desire to appeal. The notice must state the court’s original decision and the reasons you believe the decision should be reversed.
When you lose a case at trial, there often is too much at stake to simply accept the defeat and go about your business. When the stakes are high, you need the experienced appellate team at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP to handle your case on appeal — it very well could be your last chance to prevail.
